Advanced Corporate Finance 2/18/09

As I sit here listening to Dr. Tomas Jandik lecture about terminal value and growth rate assumptions in Discounted Cash Flow valuation, I am realizing two things: 1) I love this stuff; and 2) I am incredibly demotivated. Finance and corporate valuation may sound boring to most people, but I just have a passion for learning how companies work and what drives them financially. On the other hand, I am so tired of school that I can't even enjoy or work hard at things that I am passionate about.

In light of these things, I'm going to post some articles and such below that I find interesting while wasting time in class.

Alacra Pulse

Alacra Pulse is a technology platform that extracts key business and financial events from traditional news and alternative media/blog sources.
On top of this platform sit a series of applications. The first application on the Alacra Pulse platform is Alacra Street Pulse. Street Pulse aims to answer the question "what do key opinion leaders have to say about CompanyX today?" Alacra Street Pulse extracts analyst comments from the news and combines them with commentary from influential bloggers, credit and industry analysts. It's the only website where you will find the latest insights from Wall Street and the blogosphere. (Blogosphere - one of my favorite words)

For all of you Gmailers out there: Xoopit

Xoopit allows you to earch your stuff, not your messages. Xoopit upgrades Gmail search to show you the photos, videos and files that match what you are looking for. Browse photos and videos from YouTube, Flickr, Shutterfly, Kodak and Picasa. Links sent to you are automatically collected, saving you the hassle of going to these sites. Get out of Attachment Hell...easily find and access your files in Gmail. Never misplace an attachment again. All of these files and photos can be easily shared with friends, posted to your blog or shared on Facebook.

That's about it for now. About to review for the test.

  2. I'm not sure what I'm talking about either. I don't really know where to start a blog, so I just thought I would jump into a pool of randomness.
